About Bali Flow

Bali Flow creates immersive experiences that draw from traditional internal arts, mindful movement and healing disciplines. Our purpose is to offer people a space to reconnect with themselves, cultivate balance and develop long term well-being through practices rooted in ancient wisdom.

Beyond hosting retreats and programs, Bali Flow is working toward establishing a residential training school in Bali inspired by the principles of traditional Shaolin and internal arts. This future project will offer deeper study, community and ongoing practice. Updates will be posted at balishaolin.com.

About Qigong and Tai Chi

Qigong is one of the oldest systems of self cultivation in the world. It originated in China more than four thousand years ago and brings together gentle movements, conscious breathing and focused intention. The purpose is to harmonise the body’s energy, release tension, strengthen internal vitality and support physical, mental and emotional balance.

Qigong benefits may include:
– Improved circulation
– Better joint mobility
– A calmer nervous system
– Reduced stress and anxiety
– Enhanced immune function
– Greater mental clarity and presence
– Increased energy and overall vitality

Qigong is accessible to all ages and fitness levels. Movements are gentle and can be adapted to suit individual needs.

Tai Chi, sometimes written Taiji, developed from Qigong principles and is known as a moving meditation. It is an internal martial art that uses slow spiralling movements, natural breathing and relaxed structure to cultivate balance, whole-body connection and inner strength.

Although Tai Chi has martial origins, it is widely practiced today for health, longevity, grounding and clarity of mind. At Bali Flow it is approached as a way to develop internal awareness, mindfulness and steady natural energy.

Qigong focuses on cultivating and nourishing energy. Tai Chi expresses and circulates that energy through a flowing sequence. Many people enjoy practicing both because they complement each other.

No previous background is required. Qigong and Tai Chi are gentle, mindful and accessible. They are suitable for beginners, older adults, those recovering from stress or fatigue and anyone wishing to reconnect with their body.

Our Approach and Values

We offer practices that emphasise awareness, grounding and presence. Movements are taught in a mindful and compassionate way so that everyone can participate at a comfortable pace.

Adults aged eighteen and over are welcome. We treat everyone with respect and openness, whether you are brand new to these arts or have years of experience.

Most of our methods are gentle and can be adapted. We always encourage participants to listen to their bodies, move slowly and communicate with the instructor about any limitations.

We honour the depth of traditional Chinese internal arts while staying open to learning from different cultures. We value inclusivity, accessible practice, respect for nature and the cultivation of a peaceful and supportive learning environment.

Digital Detox and Presence

We support the idea of reducing digital distractions to help people reconnect with their bodies, their breath and their surroundings. Although this is not mandatory, many participants choose to limit screen time to deepen their experience.

Future Plans

Updates are shared through our website, our mailing list and our social media channels. News about the future residential school will be posted at both baliflow.org and balishaolin.com.

About Bali and Ubud

Bali is known for its natural beauty, vibrant culture and welcoming atmosphere. The environment supports inner work because it encourages a sense of calm, presence and connection with nature.

Ubud is regarded as a centre for arts, wellness, culture and spiritual exploration. It offers rice fields, forests, temples and a community atmosphere that supports mindful living.

Travel, Practicalities and Visas

Visitors should check the latest visa requirements for their nationality before travelling. Many nationalities are eligible for visas on arrival, while others may require advance application.

Daily life in Bali uses Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). Restaurants, markets, taxis and shops all operate in IDR.

Because we welcome an international community, Bali Flow usually quotes program prices in USD for clarity and consistency. However, everyday payments in Bali itself are always made in Indonesian Rupiah.

Use ATMs from well known banks.
Exchange currency at authorised money changers.
Keep smaller IDR notes for local shops, markets and transport.

General Participation Questions

Yes. Many participants join on their own and find it easy to connect with others.

Comfortable clothing, reusable water bottle, open mind, respect for yourself and others and a willingness to slow down and reconnect.

There is no need to prepare. A regular sleep rhythm, light stretching and gentle breathing in the days before your program can be helpful but not necessary.
