Chen Tai Chi Fan Form — 3-Day Intensive

with Master Li Shi Feng
19-21 June 2026 | Dragonfly Village, Ubud, Bali

Over three full days, Learn the Chen Tai Chi Fan Form step by step under Shifu Li Shi Feng, Shaolin-trained instructor. Built on the spiralling, silk-reeling energy of Chen Tai Chi, the form moves between stillness and explosive release. 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM daily | All levels welcome

Overview

The Chen style fan is one of the most graceful and commanding weapons forms in the Chinese martial arts tradition. Rooted in the spiralling, silk-reeling energy of Chen Tai Chi, it moves between stillness and explosive release — the open fan becoming a shield, a blade, or a wave.

Over three full days at Dragonfly Village, you’ll learn the complete form from scratch under the direct guidance of Shifu Li Shi Feng, whose teaching spans Shaolin Kung Fu, Tai Chi, and Qi Gong.

No prior fan experience is required. Students with a background in Tai Chi, Qi Gong, or yoga will find familiar principles at work — and new ones waiting to be discovered.

What You Will Train

  • Silk-reeling (chan si jin): the spiralling energy at the heart of Chen Tai Chi
  • Rooting and dantian connection: grounding the body before the fan ever moves
  • Fan handling: grip, opening, closing, and basic strikes
  • A complete form: sequence by sequence, with application
  • Explosive release (fa jin): moving between stillness and sudden power
  • Quality, expression, and presence: refining the form into one continuous practice

Teaching Method

Each day follows a consistent experiential loop:

  1. Open and ground through Qi Gong
  2. Build the material through step-by-step sequences
  3. Refine it through repetition and energy work
  4. Correct it through direct, personal attention from Shifu Li
  5. Integrate it through full run-throughs and reflection

The form is introduced progressively and reinforced through daily review, so the body absorbs and expresses it gradually.

What You Will Experience

By the end of the three days, participants begin to develop:

  • The Chen Tai Chi Fan Form, learned from the ground up
  • A feel for silk-reeling energy and its spiralling, continuous quality
  • Steadier structure, balance, and graceful control
  • A form you can keep practising and refining long after the workshop ends

The focus is not on performance, but on a genuine, embodied relationship with the form.

Shifu Li Shi Feng Testimonial's Student

Li Shi Feng

Today marks three years of training with Li.

When everything shut down, new ways of learning had to emerge. Training Taiji online felt like stepping into the unknown — something no one had really done before.

But given my situation, I didn’t have another option. Norway and China are not exactly around the corner.

Still, the path reveals itself as you walk it.

Thank you, Li, for opening this world to me. You’ve been a teacher, a friend, and a Kungfu brother — all in one.

“The taste of Taiji and Kung fu is great! Many would ask why bother?!
I would not want to miss it for the world.
I am so grateful I got the chance!”

— Lene Ripnes

Training with Shifu

I was not knowing what to expect when I come to this course. Five days, I think, is too short for learning something so old. I am wrong about this completely.
Master Li is teaching not only with the body but somehow also with the heart and brain.
The stances are hurting my legs very much but this is also good I think. I go home different than I arrive.
Thank you for this experience which I am still processing now three weeks later.

— Sharon Chen

Kat Solo testimonial

I was far from perfect, but I’m grateful to have had the opportunity
to travel to Iserlohn and train with such a masterful Shifu while
learning his unique system.

He expanded my perspective on the practice, helped ground my forms,
and offered much more than I expected.

Thank you, Shifu!

— Kat Solo, Former Student
